If your 2016 Tacoma has the lower air dam under the front bumper, it will need to be removed by taking out the 10mm screws that hold it on. After it is off, the driver’s side should look similar to the picture shown. Remove the two 10mm screws shown that hold the front of the fender liner in place.

Trim the front of the fender liner around where the bracket of the bumper guard will be (indicated in the picture by the red line). A utility or sharp pocket knife should easily cut through it. It's possible to fold the liner up out of the way and not have to cut it but it's a lot easier to just cut out the small section needed to clear the bracket. With the screws out that we removed in the first step, you can pull the fender liner back out of the way giving you better access to the attachment points for the front bumper guard.

Remove the two 14mm nuts shown. Those two locations are where the bumper guard attaches to. Repeat the process on the passenger side. Lift the bumper guard up onto the studs and push it back into place. Once it’s securely on the studs it should stay.

With the Front bumper guard in place, access to the studs to refasten the nuts can be a little more difficult. We’ve found that it’s easy to access them through the fender liner area shown in the picture. A ratchet with a medium depth 14mm socket makes the job easier.  When the nuts and bolts are back on and tightened down, put the fender liner back in place. Remember that it goes in between the bumper cover and orange screw clip that you can see in the picture. The lower air dam won’t fit back on with the bumper guard in place. It might be possible to trim it out to fit back around the bracket on the bumper guard but we haven’t tried that yet.
